Courses

Note: we offer GROUP or PRIVATE for all of our courses

Preschool and Primary

Children follow our in-house curriculum, with each term introducing a new topic and a new unit of targeted vocabulary and communication.  Children are supported outside the classroom, with access to songs, videos, stories, Spanish/English translations and even on-line games to further learning at home.

There is even an option to extend the fun and Spanish immersion time, by adding an extra Spanish fun extension class to your child’s weekly schedule.

And for children from Spanish speaking homes who have full comprehension of Spanish, we have our weekly Spanish community fun class where children participate in games and fun activities with other children of the same level. For primary age upwards of children being spoken to in Spanish at home, we strongly recommend adding an academic weekly private lesson on top of their weekly fun class.

Secondary

For secondary students we offer you tailored personal tuition catered to your starting level and end goals. We advise best resources and form a weekly plan with you to reach those end goals. Whether you would like support with navigating the school KS3 curriculum, you are prepping for your GCSEs or have a strong desire to become fluent in Spanish and are
prepared to put in the work required, we are the ones to help! As in all our lessons, the focus is always on communication. Spanish taught in Spanish. Two way speaking in Spanish in every lesson and getting to grips with grammar to further your speaking, comprehension, listening and writing skills.

Adult

Brilliant Bilinguals offer both group and private tuition for adults. Our highly experienced, native teachers support you in every step of your Spanish journey. We offer tuition from level A0 (complete beginner) though to level C2 (near-native proficiency). Class time concentrates on speaking and grammar instruction, reinforcing past and new material, following the CEFR. Spanish is taught in Spanish with the focus always on furthering communication. Classes are jovial and interactive with weekly homework to complete at home.

DELE for Young Learners

DELE diplomas, granted by Spain’s Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, are officially recognised certifications that quantify the degree of a student’s mastery and competence of the Spanish language.

DELE provides young learners age 11 to 17 years, the opportunity to gain diplomas in two levels, level A1 and/or level A2/B1. From age 18 students then move to the DELE mainstream diplomas, sitting
exams at level B2, C1 and C2.
The DELE exam for young learners consists of four parts, all of which require preparation and practice:

  • Reading comprehension test
  • Listening comprehension test
  • Writing expression and interaction test
  • Oral expression and interaction test

DELE diplomas are internationally recognised and valid indefinitely. We find that encouraging young learners to work towards and obtain recognition for their level of Spanish serves as a wonderful motivating factor!

Estefanía Espadas-Bernal

Teacher

¡Hola! Me llamo Estefi and I grew up in Asturias, España before moving to the UK in 2021. I've always loved languages and prior to joining Brilliant Bilinguals in 2022, I taught English as a foreign language in China as well as worked as a bilingual Spanish nanny. I visit my family in Spain a few times a year and talk to them every day! When I'm not teaching I love going to the gym, meeting up with friends, travelling, working on my Vlog and all things Korean!

PATRI

Patricia Marchante-Guerra

Teacher
Hola, ¿Qué tal? Mi nombre es Patri. I grew up in the areas of Cádiz and Toledo in España before moving to the UK in 2017 and joining Brilliant Bilinguals in 2018. I moved back to Spain in 2023 and have continued teaching Spanish virtually ever since! I love teaching so much that I have two degrees in Early Years and Primary teaching as well as a masters in Technology and Education. In my spare time if I'm not teaching or studying, you'll find me at the gym, hanging out with my boyfriend & our dog, spoiling my niece & nephew, or at the beach!

Eglis Guttierrez-Matos

Teacher
¡Hola a todos! Soy Eglis. Since moving to the UK I have held roles in teaching Spanish and as a bilingual nanny. I joined Brilliant Bilinguals in 2021 and enjoy the opportunity to share my love of my language and culture with my young students through active songs and games. When I'm not teaching I enjoy practising yoga, walking, refurbishing furniture and decorating my flat. I love decorating so much that I am also studying interior design!

THE CEFR

All of our Spanish lessons follow the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) which is an international standard for assessing language ability. It describes language ability on a scale, from A0 for absolute beginners, up to C2 for those who have mastered a language.

  • A0 – Intro to Spanish – An introduction for beginners that takes students on a journey of phonics, numbers, colours, basic grammar, greetings and personal details. This level is completed over the course of one term, at which point students have built the confidence to communicate regarding personal details (basics of name, age, family, profession, marital status etc).
  • A1 – Beginner Spanish – Personal details; Building on the content of Intro to Spanish course, students expand their everyday language and learn to communicate about their family, appearance, personality and hobbies.
  • A2 -: Low intermediate Spanish – Survival language: Family, shopping and routines. Towards the end of this level students learn to speak using past tenses.
  • B1 – Intermediate Spanish – Practical language: work, school, travel. More complex grammatical structures.
  • B2 – Upper Intermediate Spanish – Conversational language: in-depth discussion, opinions, spontaneity.
  • C1 – Advanced Spanish – Proficiency: Complex communication, sub-text, near-fluency
  • C2 – Near-native Spanish – At this level there are no lessons. You just need to keep up your regular speaking, to keep reading and listening and communicating with native speakers to perfect your level of near-native Spanish.
